40 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING – CAMPAIGN OVERVIEW

Dear Christian Friend,

This fall, our church will be participating in 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting, which will run from, Sunday, October 02, 2016 and ending on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016. This spiritual growth initiative is designed to answer God’s most important call to His people: “Intercessory Prayer.” All around the world, there is a growing concern about the spiritual health of our churches, communities and nations. Important Biblical principles that have kept us strong and blessed our churches, communities and nations are being neglected. This is a matter for concern, and more importantly it is a matter for prayer.

The purpose of this unique initiative called 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting is to help believers to pray fervently and strategically for Bethel World Outreach Church-City of Glory, Bethel World Outreach Ministries International and the United States of America.

Focused, Biblical based prayer, aligns our desires with God’s desires. When we call out to God according to his will, he responds and brings his transforming grace. In the process, our lives are touched, our churches are renewed, our communities are influenced and our nations are blessed.

God wants us to pray, and throughout history he has provided an open line of communication. Through prayer, we have access to him anytime in anywhere. The Israelite understood this, and they were often reminded of the importance and impact of prayer. In a well-known passage of the Old Testament, God said: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Like the Israelite, we also need to humble ourselves and pray and seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways. So that we too will experience the matchless benefit of God’s power of forgiveness and healing, both individually and corporately. This promise is timeless for all generations.

As we pray, it is crucial that we give attention to those who do not know Jesus as Savior and Lord. The Bible describes people without Christ as being lost. Our mission is to communicate to the lost that Jesus alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We are to communicate the Good News of the Gospel: by our lives, by our message, by our influence, and by faithful prayers we plead for the salvation of those who need God’s redemptive touch.

The benefits of forty days of focused fervent prayer can bring much spiritual fruit. They can deepen our intimacy with the Lord, broaden our vision for the lost, influence non-believers to come to Christ and increase people’s interest in matters of eternal significance. May God use this resource to help accomplish His purpose in Bethel-City of Glory, BWOMI and the United States of America as we turn our hearts to him in prayer. We suggest that you read the book “Intercessory Prayer” by Dutch Sheets during this focused time of prayer and fasting.
